O Menino e o Mundo (Ale Abreu)

There still isn't much that I know about this animation, but the teaser trailers absolutely captivated me into making some attempts (Though quite fruitless) at researching a little more into it while waiting for its thearetical release next year in January.

Titled O Menino e o Mundo (Translated to The Boy and the World), this indie Brazil film is directed by illustrator Ale Abrue, the basic plot is about a young boy who leaves his village to go in search of his father, and upon entering the modern world, sees it as a strange and colorful fantasy land filled with alien machines, creature and beings, all which are further enhanced by his imagination.

The first thing that definitely caught my attention was how adorably unique the art style was for this film, everything is just so unbelievably colorful, with a huge variety of mediums and textures used to create every single setting, there is absolutely no scene that is flatly colored, it is like one of the most gorgeous picture books brought to life. And to further enhance the boy's fantasy view of the modern world, a variety of animation techniques (Traditional, CG, and a tinsy bit of 3D I believe...) are used to make each place he visits different and unique.

If you can read any portuguese or have the patience to decipher what Google Translate will translate for you, please do check out these sites:
